Our Rehoming Process

The first step is to complete the Cat Adoption Enquiry form, which asks some questions about yourself, your home and everybody else who lives there including other pets. This will enable us to help you choose which cats might be most suitable for you and your family. It can be very sad for both you and the cat you choose if it does not work out.  Please click on the button below to fill in the form.

We will make every effort to give you all of the information we have about your chosen cat/kitten.  This, together with the information you provide us, should enable us to find you the perfect match. If appropriate, we will then arrange an appointment for you to meet your chosen cat or kitten. Please note that all visits to the cattery are by prior appointment.

ON RECEIPT OF YOUR ENQUIRY IF WE THINK WE HAVE A CAT THAT WOULD SUIT YOU…..WE WILL BE DELIGHTED AND WILL CONTACT YOU

General Information and Cost of Adoption

All of our cats and kittens will have been health checked, microchipped, fully vaccinated, will be up to date with flea and worming treatments and come with 4 weeks Petplan veterinary insurance, if eligible. They are neutered before they are rehomed, provided they are old enough. For the kittens that are still too young to neuter, we provide a neutering voucher – £50 for females and £40 for males – so there will be a balance to pay. These vouchers will be accepted by most veterinary practices. We suggest that kittens are neutered between four and five months of age. On adoption, we ask for a minimum payment as shown below to help towards the costs of the care that we provide:

  • Adult cat (up to 9 years)    £100 ; 2 adults adopted together £180 (we may offer a discretionary reduction for older cats)
  • Kitten (under 6 months)    £110 ; 2 kittens adopted together £190

When we rehome a cat it is on the basis that the home is permanent. It is a condition of adoption that, if an owner is unable to keep the cat for any reason, they must undertake not to sell or pass it on to another owner without our prior consent in writing and we may then require the cat to be returned to us.

 Choosing Your Cat

We completely understand that choosing your new companion is very personal, but ask that you try to keep an open mind and give some thought to how he or she might fit in to your household, where you live, your lifestyle, children and any other animals. Some cats love to be out and about, others love their home comforts and are happy to be indoors most of the time and some like handling more than others do. We will give you as much information and advice as we can about the cats, including the assessments and observations we have made whilst they are at The Ark. All our cats have one thing in common……they have no home to call their own, nor that special, loving bond with a human. That’s where you come in. Once both you and the Rehoming Officer are happy with your choice, we will arrange with you how and when to take your new friend home.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ALL VISITS TO THE ARK ARE STRICTLY BY APPOINTMENT
